Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga
Class participants work through a fixed sequence of poses at their own pace and ability level while the teacher provides one-on-one guidance and instruction as needed. Participants may come and go as they wish during the scheduled class period and practice for as long as desired. In this format, students memorize the sequence of postures and transitions bit-by-bit over time, learning to cultivate a meditative practice focused on their own breath. Mysore-style classes provided students the opportunity to expand their experience and knowledge through individualized instruction and allow for traditional ashtanga sequences to be modified to suit individual needs. This is a great class for beginners and those looking to deepen their relationship with yoga and establish a regular, personalized, and sustainable practice.
When:
Sundays - Thursdays 6am + 8am
Doors close at 8:10
Where:
Ashtanga Yoga Lake Geneva
(AYLG), in person
Ashtanga Yoga: Sanskrit-counted Primary Series Participants are led through the entire ashtanga primary series pairing movement with in- and out-breath to the traditional Sanskrit-counted vinyasa. The aim is for participants to flow through the poses and breathe together in a moving group meditation. As time does not allow for the instructor to explain the poses or flow between them, this class is most suitable for those with experience practicing ashtanga yoga. Once one is familiarized with the opening sequence, you can start to join weekly. Simply follow along and stop at your last postures given in Mysore class. A great way to understand and familiarize yourself with the pacing and vinyasa count of Ashtanga yoga.
When:
Fridays 5:45-7:00 am
